I rode my rollers this morning for 45 minutes, with my heart rate 150 and 160 the whole time. I'm trying to keep my heart rate steady, and just put in the time until I get to a point where I can exercise regularly without feeling like I'm going to have a heart attack.
I listened to music today, and I think it helped me to keep the cadence up a little bit. I don't know if it would work for hours on end, but it seemed to help for this ride.
I have been overweight since I was about 10, and I've always wanted to be skinny, but not enough to actually do something about it.
I got married in mid 2006, and basically just decided that enough is enough. If I don't do something now, I probably never will.
I got started in triathlon at the beginning of 2007 because my brother and sister-in law, as well as my parents, had done some triathlons, and really enjoyed them. I gave in to coaxing to participate in an early spring sprint tri, and didn't really train at all. I ended up getting a flat on the bike, and after walking my bike back, just decided not to finish. I signed up for another sprint in September, but I didn't take my training seriously enough that time either, and finished in 2:05.
I've finally decided that I want triathlon to be a part of my life, and I want to live a healthier lifestyle. For now, I'm just keeping very close track of my diet, and doing a lot of base training. I'm looking forward to Cache Valley Tri 2011.
